DMZ Bike Tour

This information is from the VisitKorea website. This is the first I have heard of this. It looks like a lot of fun. Follow the weblike for complete details.  I have seen an awful lot of bikers around.  It would be wonderful if Area 1 had their own bike club.  I am going to do some searching and see if we do.  If anyone knows of one let me know so I can get the word out.
The DMZ, a symbol of the South-North division, will be open for bike tours starting May 2010.

Endorsed by the Gyeonggi Tourism Organization, the DMZ Bicycle Tour will be available on the fourth Sunday of every month, starting from May 2010. Following the Gyeonggi Tourism Organization’s completion of monthly test runs in February, March, and April, the first official bike tour will be held on the 16th of March. The course runs a total of 19 kilometers and starts from Imjingak, passes by the Tongil (Unification) Bridge, the Tongilchon Intersection, Chopyeongdo, and circles back to Imjingak.

Organizers hope that the DMZ bike tour will become one of the main tourist attractions in Korea. The DMZ itself is already the top destination for international visitors and a leading tourist attraction of the North Gyeonggi region, with over 5 million people visiting the Imjingak area each year.

Pending approval from the Ministry of National Defense, Gyeonggi Tourism officials plan to increase the number of DMZ bicycle tours from once a month to twice a month and extend the route further north past the Tongilchon Intersection to the Gunnae Three-way Intersection. If extended, the bike route will span 24 to 25 kilometers.
